THE PLATYPUS JUNCTION KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
The ideal preparation for preschoolers.
Our play-based Kinder Program focuses on growing self-confidence, self-esteem, problem-solving skills and independence – giving children a great start for school and the tools to make friends easily.
Our 3-year-old and 4-year-old Kindergarten Programs at each centre operate 5 days a week with Bachelor trained Qualified Early Childhood Teachers, who take pride in developing a fun and enriching educational program based on the Early Years Learning Framework Curriculum.
Children develop a love of learning by engaging in exciting and varied activities. The kindergarten educational program integrates technology exploration, music, movement, art, literacy, numeracy and Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM Learning).
3-YEAR-OLD KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
To be a three-year-old is a joyous and wondrous time. Our three-year-old kinder focuses on what matters to a three-year-old. So many amazing skills develop during this year for a child in all areas. Your child will be making social connections with friends and teachers, using imaginative play, learning to care for themselves, beginning to draw, running, jumping, hopping, observing and examining the world around them, solving problems, exploring basic science and numeracy concepts through play, and their language and confidence as communicators will flourish in a wonderfully collaborative and supportive environment. These new and emerging skills are supported through practice and mastered with the support, encouragement, questioning and scaffolding of our experienced educators and a university qualified early childhood teacher.
4-YEAR-OLD KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM & PRE-SCHOOL YEAR
Kindergarten is a very exciting and unique year for a four-year-old child. Many adults still fondly remember their kinder year as one of the happiest times of their lives. Children’s natural sense of wonder and curiosity at this age are powerful foundations for establishing lifelong learning skills. Our kindergarten encourages and supports young learners to continue to grow their confidence as curious independent learners, laying successful and positive foundations for the transition to school. Platypus Junction operates three and four year old kindergartens five days per week. A university trained qualified early childhood teacher develops an educational program for each child based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) curriculum and in collaboration with local schools.
Participation in the kindergarten program provides families the opportunity to be part of a community, focused on children’s wellbeing. The kindergarten program also provides a place for parents to get to know other families and to share their experiences and information with early childhood professionals. We understand how hard it can be on families to meet the requirement of collecting their children around inconvenient session times; that is why outside of Platypus Junction Kindergarten session times, our early learning service is provided seamlessly at no additional charge to you. This offers families the flexibility to meet their work, study or other life commitments, without being required to work around difficult session times.
This wonderful and formative play-based year develops, encourages and supports our flourishing four year olds in the year before they embark on their schooling journey.

SCHOOL READINESS – TRANSITION LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT STATEMENTS
For the children attending school in the next year, Transition Learning and Development Statements are compiled with assistance of their families. The statements are completed by November and passed on to the respective Primary schools to assist with a smooth transition to school for our Platypus Junction Kinder attendees.
Some families struggle with knowing whether their child is ready to start school. Our expert educators are available to assist and will discuss any concerns they have throughout your child’s time at Platypus Junction. Not only do children need to be academically ready for the transition from kinder, they must also possess adequate social and emotional skills to support them to successfully develop friendships and be relaxed and ready to learn. Where there are concerns, we work with the trusted team at Growing Together child and family therapy. Growing Together can conduct thorough school readiness assessments so you can make an informed decision.
